584 1/2 Feet

I fished last night and crossed the main washout. It was thigh high. When I got to the island I kicked 3 deer. Then, down on the island I could not cross the second shoot nearest the hole. No way. But evidently the deer made it across--wish I could have seen it. So I went back and had a tough time getting through the current at the wash. But I made it and fished above the washout.

I had 2 walleye on that popped up in the heavy current, showed their white bellies, and then bailed. The "Gamas" did not bend. Had a walleye scale too. At about 7:30 a nice fog rolled in, and you could not see across the river--nice, eerie landscape! On my lucky 3--cast #2--I lurked into a fish, finally getting it to a spot where I could walk down. Got to it. Freakin carp. BIIIIIIIIITCH.

Next time @ 584 1/2 I'm not crossing the wash.

It has always been said that you have to fish the river when it is ready not when you have the time. Again, a day that I could spend fishing all day has turned into a day of high water. I will make it a point to get down to the river more in the mornings this year than I have in the past. This is sure to have great results. Later.
