Good news. The river crested yesterday evening. All day Friday it has been on the drop. At its current pace and without anymore rain, the river could be fishable in waders by Sunday evening. But it may end being more like Monday. It's hard to say. Stay tuned.
The hard part about interpreting the online water level gauges is knowing how the readings translate to you standing there in the water. Last year I would check the level, go fishing, and then keep records for where I could walk and where I could stand. I have a really good handle on middle water levels, that is, where the fish usually stack up when the river is between 4.47 and 6.23 on the NOAA scale. But, when the water is at 11.57 on NOAA it is a similar reading to 590 1/2 on the 475 scale. So between 6.23 and 11.57 there a huge difference. I hope to get in the water while the river stays high (but fishable) and fill in the gaps of my records. Does this stuff make sense? Here's the bottom line...stay tuned to Dr. Walleye and I'll get you on the fish. That is, if you know our secret language of terms like 'the shoot', 'the hole', and 'the drag strip'...learned that last one from DBLDIP! (I'd use his real name, but he hangs out with guys who get busted every 3 -4years!!!) I don't want to be included in that crowd!
After all, the DNR is probably reading this and everyone knows they are buttholes.

So this is a secret society?
It is not a secret society but there are those out there who are 2 faced Benedict (Brian) Arnold's whom can not be trusted because they are "Confidential informants" for the DNR (Dept. Non-deserving of Respect)
Walleye ROCK HARDCORE!!!
I thought The secret language was funny. I am sure I have fished near you all in the past-grew up in P-,burg, I have fished all over the river, the only years not on the river were 93-97', while off in college, heck some of us may have gone to school together or with my brother.
