A Rising Prize

You know, we've all been complaining about a low river for some time now. Well, we may get what we prayed for. There are astronomical predictions about the river going up to 8.5 feet by Friday, but I do not think we will see it. If you go to NOAA and see 8 ft, don't get too worried yet.

Yeah, the river will be rising steeply in the next 2 days. But Dr. Walleye is not yet worried about a complete washout as predicted. If we get to 6 ft I'll be happy as a clam. Yeah, March was a slow start, but maybe May will be the fast finish. I hope so.

Fishing update: no one is getting crap for walleye. Since Sunday, the river has shut off a bunch. Sure, some people will get a few limits, but only if you can fish all day. Heck, even Fisherboy is strugglin to get 1 or 2. That's saying something. I got some reports of white bass at Buttonwood. That always happens and is no sign that the walleye are done. Walleye move when the river is right. White bass are, well, you know, WIPE ASS!

As reported by DBLDIP earlier this year, fishing when the river is on the sharp rise is highly unproductive. Listen to him.

Once the weather calms down some, I will predict a crest. So, stay tuned. Tonight we still have local hail possibilities after midnight. It's supposed to storm all night. But Dr. Walleye will keep you posted. Last week I again had about 1,000 hits. You have put us at 7,500 hits in the last month and a half. Keep 'er going fellas. Walleye warriors must unite!

BW again at Fire Ring. Fished 9:15 to 12:30. 1 WE, 3 suckers, few others on. 1 other WE caught but very light pressure. Wonder why?

However, saw 1 limit (2 maybe) fr that fxxx rock ledge in front of me. But also saw 2 guys there with none. Oh well with the water up (hopefully) they won't be able to get there for a while. Yes it is jealously on my part.

River at FT Wayne up from 3' to 9.4' Defiance up from 3' to 4'....New Haven In, up from 6' to 11',,,Waterville up from 3.5' to 5' flow at Waterville has more than doubled,,,I don't think I would go to the Island to day,the water will probably keep rising all day..Here in Walbridge we only had 1" of rain over night 1.7"in two days .but this has no effect on the river,,doubt anyone will be pissing off Fisherboy at least by going to the rock bar,,I am sure someone will piss him off,,

Fisherboy try going out to "the ledge" today and we will pick you up at Orleans as you float by!! Don't even bother hitting the river until at least late Thur or even Friday. It will be full of crap floating downstream. As Doc said this high water should bring in a huge run of fish especially with the eratic flow of the past week. It will be interesting to see how the water temp changes. That rain was not very warm by April 20th standards. Could easily push the run into May as we all hope for!!

When the river crests I will be in the river in my new red plaid shirt for luck. If you see me wish me luck! I hope Thursday night works out.

Corky: welcome to the blog. If I see you I'll be sure to say hello. But I doubt it will be Thursday.

At the old folk hole this morning. Managed to get 1 WE. No others on. Jim got 1 too. While yapping at the car later saw 1 limit go by. No idea where he was fishing. Also saw 2 Green Trucks there (BW). One stoped to see how the fishing was. Guess he should have asked the guy with all the fish. Actually I believe he did.

Went down around 7:00. Water was over the road at BW. Still rising. Nothing happening at SP either.
