The river is still cooking. Ft. Wayne must have got nailed and the strong west wind is blowing it in. Hope the wind continues and blows it out. We're over 11 ft now and its trying to level out. I bet it crests overnight. Too high for me on Friday, Corky. Maybe we'll see a drop and can get wet Sunday. I hope.
Tear_Em_Up: Out in Luckey, a guy named Derr did my first Fish Ohio. His brother was the late Jim Derr, a popular teacher/wrestling coach around here for years. I bet that several local guys who read this knew Jim. It is a basic mount with a cedar backboard. It has a brass nameplate that has weight, date, and the name (Silver Minnow). That was almost 20 years ago and the fish still looks slick. I'll ask my uncle if he still accepts work. It's a long shot that he does.
As far as exotic taxidermy, I got a mount done at Artistic Touch in Oregon in 2009. The owner Mark did my 2 x 10s with full rock-looking background (made of canvas, mud and paint), driftwood, moss... and I put 3 little perch in the display, and they are in front of the walleye like they're getting chased. One perch is half-way in one of the eye's mouths. It weighs over 40 lbs and is quite large. It's just beautiful. I look at it all the time and consider it art. Worth every penny. And there were many. 5128 Bay Shore Road, Oregon, OH. (419) 693-3845. One of my buddies referred me to Mark. EZ Limit. EZ has gotten at least 4 mounts done by Mark, and they're all unique. One sits on the floor and has 5 walleye vertically up it. He's got a 12 lb'er in that mount. There's tall grasses in the middle, with all the walleye on a stringer, with clasps in mouths. That one is remarkably light for it's size. He spent upwards of $800 for that one. Mark does superior work.

Maumee Tackle has it at 590'1"..Waterville 10.92 ft Flow 52500,,at 5am ...water by the island was almost over the road near Sidecut last night,,,,
Water seemed to crest last night, still at about 589 or so at 1030 this morning. Not much going on , had a pair of fishermen show up at Fort Meigs lower lot this morning who had just came from Pittsburgh to fish with their boat. After talking to them they were turning around and going back home. 4 hours driving for nothing, feel sorry for them. Hope we can get back into the river by Sunday.
Good day fishing. Snaged a 5ft 11" ulgy stick with a shakspere reel. (yes my spelling sucks). Kept 1 WE, released 2.
Talked to some guys camping here ,they said they will be out tonight at 1201 AM..using 3/4 OZ Maumee River Twist Jigs,,maybe even Silver Spiders if they can find any of them,,,
I could have sold them some. Thought of going out tonight but I'm too old for that kind of shit. Will fish tomorrow using same old floaters. Hope to see you. Only got 1 this morning. Your friend only got 2 which surprised me.
But I screwed around on the sewer pipe for a while tonight. Got nothing but did see a few on stringers. On the way out saw a guy with 4 hogs. Def biters. Also a game warden earlier. Seems they don't really care now.
BTW see if you can spot me on Maumee Bait flood scenes. Any that does wins NOTHING.
Is it ok to go out there today (sunday,may1st) because a couple of my friends went out there and I got worried because I heard the water level was high
Fishermen: it's too high for me. But Fisherboy is fishing, so your buddies are ok. It really depends on where they are fishing. Guys are trying the lower lot a bit, but they cannot be getting out far. Orleans is open in spots. Prob White St too. Don't go to Buttonwood or Bluegrass unless you know the areas really, really well.
