...except for reports of lots of walleye being caught. Today was sunny, 63, and windy from the south. The river dropped a lot today and we're now at 5 ft NOAA. Some rain coming but it won't raise the river that much. I'm surprised how quickly it dropped since the weekend.
Welcome back to my old online friends and the newest people who became members! Jimmie Jam, Camper Trailer Tent (I think it's a clever name), Krockhold of course is in the house, Gatlin has the guns out, AJ, Opie, Robert, Jonny, Sid, and best handle so far...B-Weis. That's funny right there! Sorta makes Doc Dubbya wanna grab a brew. I wonder where the hell EZ Limit has been...bet we'll be looking for him for a LONG time. But not as long as T$.
Thanks to everyone for stating their locations. It's interesting to me and I'm sure to a lot of readers. Those of us who call Maumee and Perrysburg home are always eager to welcome people from out of town...as long as the respect is there and mono is on the reel.
I had an argument with some prick at the Bass Pro fishing counter (a worker) about mono v. braid. He didn't get it. He tried to talk me into braid, and I came out Gatlin Guns blazin. While he said that guys use too strong of braid, he claimed that braid breaks off easier than mono. Dumbass. He talked about the stretch of mono whereas braid breaks off easy. I talked about guys cutting braid at their rod tip, and he said he's never heard of that. Again...dumbass. (I just realized that I sound like a whiner. Gosh, the fishing better pick up quick so we can talk about what matters...Maumee Gold Walleye!)
I've been slammed at the old job but hope to get out sometime soon. Once I do I'll report fully.
To those who are coming in town this weekend, the river will be wide open. Give it a shot. Orleans is a good place to pick off early season fish. Bluegrass should be open from Sidecut. Buttonwood is bound to pick up, but better wait on that site. Buttonwood seems to be the last place to get early season fish, wouldn't you say Fisherboy? Then again it's the last place to get fish in May. Even the towpath has had it's share of visitors lately. Easiest access is Orleans at the river ramp. White Street is bound to be packed though...I'd stay away from there.
Peace out Warriors.

Last year I caught my first 3 fish of the year march 17th. Then I got a limit on the 18th. This wknd will be a week earlier than that but the river temp is going to be about the same.
Hey Doc, maybe we can hire T$ to ferry us around when the water goes back up. EZlimit is probably banging them on the lake and keeping quiet about it. I'm planning on hitting it on Thursday evening weather permitting, might even get Opie to go out on Friday if he can get his butt out of bed.
I agree with braid stuff its kinda weird though i would think the bass pro guys would know better. I did try the new berkley nanofil line down at white st. today. It cast far and i didn't have any trouble breaking it off but it sure is expensive, i don't know if the cost is worth it or not. I also couldn't tell you how it handles a walleye it was a rough day fishing.
Just to leave you know I had a fish fry this afternoon. Nope no WE or gills, just perch & crappies. Had 1 piece of crappie that had a diff taste. One of the other persons had a piece with an odd taste. Same fish?
& like Graybeard I wonder about my mind. Pulled into Orleans around 3 & realized I forgot my waders. Just looked around & did not fish.
Looked at my OLD fishing records from 1977 (Yes 1977) thru 1997. Turned out the most WE I had thru March 10th was 6 one time. Quite a few yrs less then 3. May have a chance to get 20 this yr.
BTW I had fresh WE last night - 1 side. Killed the other side tonight. Yummy as good as perch & crappies. Hope to see some of you guys sooner or later. Give a shout & I may get up before 10:00
I guess I should get my ass in gear and live up to my name. Looking to hit the river soon and as always... get them at close!
Bait Shop Says River Down to 582 Water Temp 43.3...Waterville 4.58 Flow down to 8690.. We Have 30MPh winds with gusts to 40 and its Raining But it always rains here,Dbldip and Birdman send it here,,
Fisherboy, wait until all these young Studs get our age they will know what we are talking about. It was not easy getting this old
went to jerome road today and got 2 myself and a buddy got 1 as well. Only about 5 people there today and everone had at least one fish. One guy had 3
I'm new to this site , but want all to know that I was at the towpath today. I was fishing from the large curvert due to not yet getting any waders. I managed to catch one 16" jack and had another much larger fish on but the botard beside me broke it off. Several guys were hooking up but loosing them.
Msn 2 days without any fish. Guess you have to go fishing to catch them. Perrysburg side of river too cold around 3:00 for me. I really am getting old when I don't feel like fishing. Maybe tomorrow if i feel like that half mile walk.
P-Burger,
orleans yesterday, about 10 guys, only saw 2 fish all day.
I like how Gary keeps talking it up like the run is in it's prime. Just watch he will say that many fish were caught again today. He just wants the river full for more business in his shop.
Gary would never lie to try to increase buiness....that would just be wrong hahahaha
You fellas must have been visiting my favorite site garylies.net. Ain't no fish in the stream yet.
Couple of my buddies went today. They said the wind was awful but 1 of them picked up 2 fish, and the other got 1. I'll be there tomorrow to test it out.
Graybeard & Birdman Fished across from the Sewer 1 for each snagged several the other 8 or 10 guys had 1 each ,it was a endurance test,a little windy, wet arm fisherman would have limited .the guys on the sewer were killing them as they do every year.3 or 4 boats fished for a while they may have got a couple ..Fisherboy the walk did not get any shorter...the wind was a killer
3 days & no fish. But as I posted yesterday you have to fish to catch fish. & since the walk is no farther than last year (just a couple more stops)I really believe I'll try it around 10:00. Unless it's windy as hell.
jerome road again today. got 2 more and watched 3 or 4 other guys get a couple...not many guys down there with the weather the way it was
