The river this morning is at 7.91 and is receeding. It's peak was 8.19 last night. By mid-week it may be low enough for our crew to fish the high water spots. I would guess that very few guys are even out there trying, even though I did hear a report of a few fish getting brought in this weekend.
The flow is at 27.4 kcfs (Kilo Cubic Feet Per Second or rate of river water flow.) That means the river is moving out fast! When the depth is at a fishable 6.0 on NOAA the flow is recorded at approximately 16 kcfs. So right now the river is moving at about a 58% increase from the usual flow. NOAA always predeicts a higher and faster river than what occurs. Plus the gauge is on the Waterville Bridge (there is no gauge on the Maumee Bridge), so I try to account for that in my reports.
Sad news in from Shimano. The Sidestabs have been discontinued. Man, for $30 those things were tough. They only lasted 2-3 years but were extremely reliable. If you go out and try to find a rear drag reel, you'll have a tough times these days. Everything seems to be front drag. But the good news is that Berkley re-introduced a new Lightning Rod (one piece) at a much better cost than the last few years.
Interesting posts lately anglers! If you post something this week, I would be interested to know where you all live. Last year guys said they were from Michigan and one from Cinci. Where do you all live your lives? Another thing you can do once you're signed up and have created a google account is to update your profile for others to see.

I sent a conversion chart to Dbldip for Waterville to the 23 bridge it seems pretty close..if he wants to share it ???
Graybeard I will send it to Doc W. He will have better luck posting it than me.
Dbldip; looks like we may have to fish the Coon Killer Tree..
Hey Graybeard and DBLDIP: I got your conversion chart. It differs from the one I've built over the years...for example, 586 is 8 ft. NOAA by my estimation. Yours and mine differ by about 2 1/2 feet.
Do you guys think that it would be worth the drive from Akron this Saturday. Not looking for a limit, but would like to bring at least one home. And how much does the photo period have to do with when the fish run?
Hey Doc,
Just wanted to reply to your original post. I live right in toledo, off Reynolds rd. I was on the site last year, and picked up some good tips from all of you guys. I hope to maybe hook up with some you, and slay some walleye. Maybe even pick up a few tips, I'm kinda new to the walleye run. This is just my third year, and after a fishless season last year, feel I could use all the pointers anyone can give.
wow if you went fishless then you must really suck. here is a tip for ya "stay home and dont waste your time". If you want to fish walmart has a tank
Hey Doc.You are right.I have the Day by day the last 3 years.I just checked 586. is 8ft to 9ft .I guess I am stupid like the wife says.I will Make one ..OH I'm not wrong ,all the global warming changed the earth and the sea levels,For a minute I thought I was wrong..I also Have Old Timers & C.R.S..and Short Dick Ides

Hey if I fish maumee in the morning then head to Fremont for an eavning fish can I keep a limit from each place I had a warden tell me I could last year but just not sure
no you cant....use some common sense bro
You sure can just don't get caught..they call that double dipping.they catch a few each year
A very nice blog. Indeed it is an article worth reading for. Excellent job!
Camper trailer tent......wow what a name "cough cough douche"
Another 2 1/4 hrs wasted. 15 minutes off pipe at SP (without waders)& 2 hrs near the spot Graybeard calls the Deadcoon tree.
Love it when you fish for a hour & 2 guys step in & 1 of them gets 1 in 3 minutes. The only reason I did not toss my pole in & leave was the fact it was snagged with a lead jig. It was kept which did not surprise me. No other fish was felt by any of us. Stil a virgin after 5 1/2 hrs of fishing over 3 trips. Maybe I should try lead???? Na I don't want to see any FP.
DAMM WORDS TO POST ARE HARD TO READ
Cincy guy is still here following :-)
Prolly gonna head up this weekend and give it hell on saturday. Hopefully the level comes down a hair and the temp up a little bit. It'll be nice either way just to get in the river.....
Fort Wayne, here. I didn't go because of the weather last weekend. I'll be there saturday! With the forecast I don't think I'll get skunked but we'll see.

Buddy and I plan on coming up from Ky, any help would be awesome. We have never been. Fish walleye all over Indiana and Michigan but never here for the run. It looks like the fishing picks up in late march early April from what I've seen. Anyone know of locations? I'm sure people are everywhere but something with easy access for a first timer here.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Good luck to all.

No one should keep females!! Keep the jacks only. Asian carp come in and all the good fishing will go away. The more females released the more walleye for the future to eat those damn asin carp before they mature, we can only hope. Catch and release the females!!!
