Is there a final push?
Well Walleye Warriors...it depends on several factors. Ok. One factor. RAIN! If there is a final push of walleye it will be the quick hitter type. In they come...out they go. I'm not giving up hope yet. But it's questionable. NOAA has the river going to 5 ft by Friday (still currently at the 2.4-2.6 mark like it has been for two months.) Ugh. But it is rising today slowly from 2.4. I don't believe the river will get anywhere above 4.0 personally. And if it gets that high I would be surprised. I don't see it happening. The rain is always missing the river bed. All the rain forecast for today did not arrive. Nor will it tonight. So that's where we stand. Good luck in Fremont fellas.

Whats going on in Fremont? Are there any eyes still in there? I am going fishing Sunday, and cant decide if I want to stay close to home(Akron) or make the trip up and over to try the rivers one last time. What do you think Doc?
Word is there are a lot of walleyes trapped up the Sandusky river by Fremont from the low water. With todays high of 87 that can't be too good on those fish since they said they were seeing some die off already. Fisherboy seems to know about as much about whats going on as anyone.
The river reached a whopping 3.5 NOAA and is still trying to climb a bit. Now they have a 4.1 posted as the crest for tomorrow. We shall see. I don't know live4fishn...I haven't fished Sandusky in years. Other guys have been posting about the good luck up there lately though.
Tried for WE in the morning. Total waste of time. Caught 50 lbs of moss however. Tried WB fishing in evening down by Schroeder. Caught around 25.
Most enjoyment was watching a guy trying to cross to shore from the rock bar at BW. He did not make it. No harm however. He went upriver to cross where he should have.

ODNR Clarifies Enforcement Guidelines for Possession and Transportation of Fish Fillets
COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife has issued a statewide directive to its enforcement officers to clarify guidelines for enforcing a new rule that specifies the condition of fish fillets being kept or transported.
“Many Ohio anglers have expressed that they were confused about the fillet rule so I asked our Division of Wildlife to clarify the rule so no innocent angler stands a chance of getting in to trouble when they are trying to follow the law,” said ODNR Director James Zehringer, .
The rule, Ohio Administrative Code 1501:31-13-08, states that it is unlawful to possess or transport a fish unless the fish is in the round or a complete fillet with skin attached until a person reaches their permanent residence. The confusion surrounding the question of whether the skin had to be kept on the entire fillet or whether a patch of skin to identify the fish species would suffice. Many Lake Erie anglers come to the lake for a few days or a week to sample the world class fishery, and anglers may be bringing home several days’ limits of the various species.
After a thorough review, a directive sent today to wildlife officers from Scott Zody, chief of the Division of Wildlife, specified that the rule should be interpreted to mean that only a patch of skin, enough to identify the species of the fish is required to be left on the fillet. Changes will be made this fall during the regular rule-making package to further clarify the requirement in code. The rule is designed as a tool to protect the valuable Lake Erie fishing resource and to allow wildlife officers to identify fillets in an angler’s possession.
“Our goal was to protect the state’s most valuable fishery,” said Zody. “It was not our intent to create a hardship for anglers, who bring a tremendous economic benefit to the state.”
ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR website at www.ohiodnr.com.

So all those campers with frozen WB without a patch of skin could be given tickets. Or even non-frozen ones. Maybe I should call the stupid NDR to get a bounty.
Went out around Orleans in my canoe this morning. "The junk fish are in" there were carp in the hundreds spawning all around the islands and a few garfish mixed in. Quite a few whiteys being caught all around. Did not go west of Rt 20 bridge. I beleive we are done with walleyes unless someone found a spawning school upstream but haven't heard of any.
Dbldip that guy with the ex-leading WB did remember you after 1 of his friends mentioned gar fish. Instant recall! He said to tell you hi. WB slow today. 27 or 28 & some were small. The oriental guys were pigging out on quillbacks (they kept calling them buffalo untill I corrected them)
does anyone ever bowfish for them out there?? do you know any spots to bowfish from shore or wading
It would be easy enough to bowfish out there or any shallow area right now. Carp everywhere including back channel at Side Cut but the park rangers might give you a hard time doing it there.
WE fishing can be dangerous. Friend of my fishing at Luna Pier bought in a WE last night. Somehow a treble was jamed thru his trumb. He was taken to the hospital. Guess they are still catching them there off the pier.
Was supossed to go out on the lake today but it was too rough for a 16 footer. We tried the River Rasin instead. Caught 10 different fish.
White Bass, White Perch, sheephead, carp, golpy, yellow perch, sunfish, smallmouth, catfish & rock bass. The majority were large WP. Used minnows & worms.
