Welcome to 2019! Started in 2001, this blog provides information about the Maumee River Walleye Run. Instant updates @DrWalleye on Instagram. Check for regular water level updates taken through NOAA as well as my interpretations of them. The action is fast. The information is reliable. And the Ohio Department of Natural Resources enforcement officers are watching--BEWARE!

River Rain and Goals
Walleye Warriors,
The river is currently at 2.6 on NOAA and is expected to rise significantly over the next three days. NOAA has the river rising 5 feet to 7.5, which is still technically within what they term the "Action Stage." Minor Flood Stage starts at 9.0. Given the past history of NOAA overpredicting the rise, I would be surprised to see us much past the high sixes. But time will tell. Any way you slice it, this washout will provide a good cleansing that we didn't get with ice this year.
DBLDIP spotted a boat on the river this past weekend. I wonder if that guy was fishing for a buzz?!?! No way are walleye moving. With the water temp in the mid 30s, no movement of fish will occur. So hold on to your knickers for a while longer. We have to wait out this huge storm. But it is exciting to start thinking about getting our gear ready!
I am tinkering with my site as you can tell by the redesign and new background. Blogger only allows so much. I didn't want to get all crazy with a dynamic site where you have to search for crap. I gotta remember by audience...in order to reach my mature audience (aka old dudes!). But I will post fish pictures on Instagram this year for your viewing pleasure. And I'll be able to provide updates in real time with that medium. So check out "DrWalleye" on Instagram and follow me if you want. But I will still keep this blog current as you would expect from my site.
It's also time to start setting some goals for the fishing season. I have some goals this year:
(1) Fill my freezer with fresh walleye,
(2) Beat my personal best of 10 lb 1 oz and put that lady on my wall,
(3) Get a DNR dude to admit that he is a Communist,
(4) Not pull Fisherboy out of the river because he took a dump and lived up to his old nickname,
(5) Get DBLDIP to agree to a King Can challenge and then kick his ass (and drink his brew),
(6) Post a picture on Instagram of a DNR fool in a tree blind,
(7) Not lose a single floater,
(8) Bash an anonymous hater on my blog and then ban him from ever posting again here,
(9) Pull ahead of The Closer on total fish home since I know he will catch me in the Fall push,
(10) Get a person on my blog whom I have never met to buy me a brew,
Till next time,
Dr. Walleye

I hear someone got their all ready.Dbldip might have the story..Kind of funny.but not really
Doc I am in for the King Can challenge! I have a good goal for ya... after your 5th limit, you cook them up for me!
Still ice fishing. Limit Sunday, only 9 today. Not We, just gills & crappies
Hey Doc do they make Michelob in King cans? Non of that Milwaukees best fisherboy drinks. I will take your bet and graybeard and birdman shall enjoy watchin me FLOAT ur ass right down the river. Beware the new Wood and Lucas county guys they look like kids not to say they are not good guys, Cody who took dickhead Marty's Baers spot seems like a genuine decent guy so maybe there is hope afterall. All of the old timer DNR either got fired, booked with their pensions before Kasich screwed them over,or are busy hunting or fishing for themselves while on duty. I hope these new guys have some integrity and maybe just maybe gain a little respect back for their positions. Enough of this rambling lets get Fishin!
Ah, the blog has livened up a bit! I like the goals you guys have on here, especially Gatlin's. And how about DPLDIP's positive outlook on the Guys in Green? Nice stuff. It's about time to get that net ready, Closer.
You wouldn't have to get a DNR officer to admit he was communist if your were not snagging fish. They are just doing their job. Laws and regulations are in place for a reason.
Just Saying!!!! FISH ON
How many DNR Guys Got Convicted For Breaking Laws last Year.Seems like there were a bunch. The New Wood County guys decent. They screwed him all ready when they moved him From Lucas County to Wood..He had to sell his house in Maumee.
Fish this Sunday? Hope so
