Getting Stronger
The river on Saturday is at 3.1 on NOAA and will be steady throughout the week. Plenty of reports are coming in of fish getting caught, especially in the Sandusky. But The Closer popped a few walleye yesterday in the Maumee! Way to go Closer! Welcome to new bloggers: FISH DOMINATOR (cool name) and LineNDa Water--I remember you from a few years ago probably due to your cool login name so welcome back, WDK, Walleye Wade, Michael and Timmy--glad to have you all here. Work got in the way this week and I couldn't get posts out, so thanks for keeping the conversation going.
Everybody should pray for a warm rain. With the river holding steady, things may pick up due to better temps, but we're still way far off from the main run. All you guys out there wondering how the fishing is should get your gear ready and start heading in to Perrysburg. The river is ready for you, and all spots are accessible including Bluegrass. don't forget to pick up your trash and also some litter that isn't yours. Let's be proud of our clean river and take responsibility for this gem of a natural resource. Hopefully I'll have some pics up by next week of some fresh fish!
Michael, the basic gear you were asking about is a good question. I prefer a 6-6/12 ft medium or medium heavy rod with 12 lb monofilament and a 4000 sized open faced reel. Some guys chose lighter stuff and run floaters all season but I prefer some lead at the beginning of the year. Wader selection is also important, and I encourage guys to hit Cabelas for waders. Their return policy is superb and Bass Pro can't touch it.

Did any one else get the animal lovers flyer on there car on Saturday. I agree with the no surveillance part but using yarn to catch your fish come one .there were a lot of facts that were false they should probably do a little more research before posting a few hundred flyers.
no i didn't get that when i went Saturday. What all did it say?
Thanks DR. I think we will try it this weekend after the Holiday.
