LIMIT

The river heated up for me last night, and I got my limit home with several throwbacks. All jacks. The biggest for 26". I couldn't find my scale last night to weigh it. Some of the backwater areas with slow current are surprisingly productive. Hey guys, thanks for all the posts! I've been so damn busy at work that I can't post every day. But you guys are keeping the news coming in, and I appreciate your help. Good conversations. I will be interested in hearing if anybody meets up. I see guys posting what they're wearing and shouting out to say hello. The option of taking a guy fishing for a deer roast is an impressive offer! Hello to the new anglers posting: Roy, Aaron, Timmy, Tony-nice 11 pounder dude!...and for the record, I would put that hog on the wall but that's just me. Thanks for joining.

Went up to buttonwood today, there was a good crowd but I saw very little fish, current was strong. I'm going to try fort meigs tomorrow hopefully better luck.

Got my first limit of the year today. Took until 4:30, but I got it, all nice jacks. Saw two other limits, one I know for sure wasn't all legal though. Saw lots of singles and doubles. One 16 year old kid fishing with a buddy of mine caught his first walleye, his first trip to maumee ever, a 6 pound jack. Also saw someone get a $150 dollar fine for keeping a fouled fish, we'll be up tomorrow at Shroeders.

Parking was at a premium in Maumee and Perrysburg..never saw it this bad before ,even when fishing was good ..a couple guys in the parking lot at Ft Meigs were bitching because a friend was ticketed for Peeing on the Island out from the parking lot.must have been a MEAT GAZER out there.

Gonna try the afternoon bite today. I'm sure the crowd will be insane. I think I'll try buttonwood first and if that don't pan out, I'll try bluegrass. I've heard 5/8oz is the perfect weight for those areas. Anyone object? I'm also using 3-4ft leader. I drive a long way so hoping to bring some fish back

The river is rising. We could tell standing down there last night. I got 3 more jacks home. The river is expected to crest at 4.3 on NOAA tomorrow (Sunday) which equates to just under 582, Roy. Therefore the river will go up maybe 3-4" from Friday to Sunday. That's not much be we will take it. 5/8 is hot, Timmy. Krockhold: where did you see the bust at? Also, I saw a steelhead get taken in the mouth.

Thanks Doc. Hope Sunday rain bumps it up a little more or keeps the level there. Any guys want to meet Fri night for dinner and a cold beer?

Do many people use a boat and fish at the mouth of the Maumee or is the preferred place somewhere on the river? I was just wondering if the fish stadge at the mouth waiting for high water to run up the river? Thanks in advance.

Graybeard What are you doing up at 5:56? I'm getting up at 7 or a little later & I think that's early.

Well I went for the afternoon bite today and sounds like I missed out on the morning bite. I spent 3 hours at BW and 3 hours at BG and didn't catch a single fish and only saw 1 guy catch a walleye in the tail. I'm 0 for 2 on my trips to the river, very frustrating.

Second time out today went from 4-7 at fort meigs. I didn't catch a single fish and lost the other half of my lures to snags in the river. I am getting very impatient having to go out and buy new equipment every time. Does anyone else get this many snags or is it just me? How do you not get snags is mostly my question?

Doc, the wardens were at Schroeders. They told him they had him on video surveillance and everything. It was legit, dude screwed up, but they didn't get the guy 4 people down who had two hog females on his stringer that had been brought in sideways. What really burned me about it was that they took the fish, and didn't just make him release it. They told him they either try and give it to a soup kitchen or just throw it away, how's that for resource management and conservation.....

Where'd you see the steelhead taken at? I heard a guy said at Schroeders said he got one?
