Flow and Low

NOAA has the river at 3.8 today, having crested yesterday morning at 4.2. The flow ws stronger yesterday, and the slight bump in level helped. I managed 2 jacks home yesterday and DBLDIP got on the board too. Pink is hot. Good quote the other day, Kory. There is a philosophical nature about Mother River for sure. I hope we can all agree on that one. It looks like GetUrWaders takes the cake on the Easter Limit. NICE! In the forecast this week we have no rain and west wind. So look for the river to drop dramatically throughout the week. At this point I would sacrifice 4 days of fishing just to get some water in there. So many fish are stacked up in the bay, and we will see a heck of a lot more fish once it rains hard. But there are fish in the river to catch. I am surprised to see all these jacks already half spawned and rolling on the surface.

why would you be suprised??? if you read a lot of the walleye spawn articles it says that water temp doesnt really matter. Most of what determines when the fish spawn is light phases.

My friend and I are coming up from Fort Wayne on Thursday for the first time and are super excited about fishing the Maumee for walleye. We were just wondering where we should head to increase our chances of catching a few. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really enjoy this blog and getting the tips that everyone has left! SlimJim

jerome road or bluegrass is a good place . Lots of fish are caught there every year

Do you guys think that last bit of higher water brought in a new run of fish?

New here from Texas for work for a couple of years. Avid saltwater fisherman, especially wading the bays of The Texas coast. Have never fished for Northern species. Am very stoked about having the oppurtunity to fish this famous walleye run on this beautiful river we have found ourselves living off of. (wasn't by coincidence....been doin' my studying every since we knew we were making the move in December ;)....just don't tell tha' wife). I'm geared up, like said...avid fisherman, where's a good spot to have a valid oppurtunity to catch some, and still get my bearings on this new style of fishing w/out "too" many people around??? Remember...wader here. Any responses are much appreciated. Any good guides known are always useful too.
