On the horizon
Walleye fishing was a little better on Friday/Saturday. The Closer made his mark on Friday, and then his son (11 yrs old) caught his first walleye ever on Saturday! Whities are hitting more regularly as are the carp and suckers. Find some rapids and you might find a fish. Terrible Ted banged one walleye on his first (and only) cast of the day. So yes, fishing picked up some but we're all waiting to see what this rain will do for us. If the river goes up a few feet between Monday and Wednesday, we could see our last push of walleye by this coming weekend. Get them quick. If there are still walleye staged, they will come and go very quickly. The third annual PHS vs. MHS tournament is Saturday. PHS won two years ago. MHS won last year. Sign up at http://www.perrysburg.k12.oh.us/latest-news/367-maumee-v-perrysburg-3rd-annual-fishing-tournament-may-3 and support both schools (especially Perrysburg!) In the last month my blog had 25,035 page views. Thank you all for visiting!

Ill probably be there wednesday is that a good idea or should i wait a while
Devin...usually I would say wait until the river crests...maybe Friday. But this year is breaking all the rules. Give it a shot and let us know the results! Don't get stranded dude.
Thanks doc.. Also are white bass good eating?
devin i would say white bass are so so. The key is cleaning the red meat and keeping them from getting mushy. I have found the sooner you get them cold and on ice the better they are texture wise. On a really hot day or if you dont get them cooled down once you get them out of the water they tend to get mushy. They also dont freeze as well as other fish do. They are worth eating for sure if you like fish but in my opinion i wouldnt keep more then you are going to eat in one serving and try to eat them within a couple days. Everybody will have different thoughts but thats the way i have found they taste the best.
Thanks kingslayer
The quillbacks are in. Caught 6 or so the last few days. Also a few WE & 1 single WB.
any ever tried to eat quillback?
Never heard of anyone eating quillback but fisherboy would be the one to ask. He will eat any fish! Any Size. Ain't that right Fisherboy? NO, Kingslayer they are just rough fish but you always know when you hook one they zigzag all over the place like a fish on steroids.
just wondering. i caught 7 or 8 and would gladly donate them to fisherboy if he needed a snack
Thanks heap for the offer of QB. I'll pass but they are just another type of sucker & I did know 2 guys who used to keep them.
How about a report on the drag strip or the Ft Meigs island from someone who goes there. Fishing was tought at BW for me tonight. It really did not matter since I was out this morning. I did have on shore a buffalo that had to be way over 20 lbs. What a monster.
It was tough going on the island last night fisherboy. I got 1 small jack just barely legal and the birdman got 2 small jacks. I also got a big buffalo in the mouth that I had to put my reel on freespoool since didn't have drag set and when it took off I almost broke my finger from the handle or bail backspinning so hard and fast. Did get the buff in though. Doc walleye got a big gooseegg last night also. Looked like the water had already peaked while we were there which really sucks.
Fishboy, after I asked you what time it was at BW. I went to BG island and got 5 more WE for my limit. The island did good for me today.
Sideways, I should have gone with you. But I doubt you could carry me.
Fishing good st BW today. Not great but good.
Old sideways got after them rascals pretty good Friday. No play by play action, just good old fashioned fishin. I think I caught every quillback in the river, twice.
Have the White Bass shown up yet??? Coming this weekend to show out
River rat, maybe if I had done some play by play action you would have caught more walleye. You know u like it. Ha... River rat u need to stay on island.
WB are on the move. Got 15 tonight & 1 WP. Not great but decent. A couple friends got roughly 80 this morning & 20 tonight. I did managed 2 WE, 1 in the morning fishing for them & 1 at night.
what were your friends using fisherboy?? minnows or artificial
What's the deal with MaumeeTackle? I was at Buttonwood for the past 7 days and watched the water levels go down, down, down and Gary says the water levels are remaining the same. I watched as rock piles became more evident every hour. What's the actual level? O personally seen the lvels drop more than a foot but it's being reported at 580 and change. Can someone explain this to me please

The water has actually rose a little the last three days
They (& i) were using double jigs. 1/16 & 1/8 oz I believe.
Is anyone still catching walleye? If not, what do you use for white bass?
In the words of the great Joe Dirt "Im new, Im new, I don't know what to do."
Thanks
Saw 3 caught today WB fishing
