Muddy Maumee

The river crested and is opening up to anglers, if you can find a place to park. While it seemed like an innocuous winter down on the river, the problems came on because of 2 factors. (1) the river swelled to an enormous depth sending ice everywhere, and (2) then all the water in outlying areas refroze. It is so muddy down there. It's to the point of sinking up to your ankles in waders. There were a few people out fishing yesterday in the towpath. I didn't see any boats out there. Fishing will pick up this week for sure though, and with warm weather this weekend, next week looks better than ever for early season fish.

From Maumee Tackle EVEN Though you will be on Private Property he directs people to Davis overlook

CROSSING TO BLUEGRASS ISLAND IS NOT PERMITTED

Davis Overlook, Ft Meigs, White Street and the Towpath from White street and Sidecut park are all accessible

So today begins what looks like a decent warmup- the rest of the week and into the weekend looks to be in the 40s and closer to 50’s for the weekend.

We saw a few singles come out of the river- look at this 6.6 lber that came out of the towpath yesterday. Conditions are improving so we should start seeing more fish in the next few days.

Have fun be safe and good luck fishing.

CROSSING TO BLUEGRASS ISLAND IS NOT PERMITTED

Davis Overlook, Ft Meigs, White Street and the Towpath from White street to side cut park is open, And now Orleans park as well.

Even though we are not slaying the walleye yet I still have good news. Today the city of Perrysburg opened Orleans park( a good area to fish in high water) back up to the public. They had a serious mess to clean up, Boat docks, porta-pottys. canoes, and icebergs all piled up in one big mess. But they sorted it out, repaired the road and have the area open.

We had reports yesterday of a few fish caught at Ft Meigs and along the Towpath. As the sunshine warms the river the next few days those fish that have been traveling our way should arrive in earnest.

Have fun ,be safe and good luck fishing
