The river on Sunday was at just below 581. That's really low. Temp was 44. By Monday morning the river had risen to 588 something--a seven foot gain! Last year I kept records based off the 475 gauge and another gauge on the Waterville bridge recorded through NOAA. The river can be fished left of the shoot at 586.
First fish of the year goes to Corky who legal-beagled a carp. He also brought a walleye to the surface but it popped off. Corky got eyes on the river too. That second shoot is bigger than ever, so it will block our access to the hole when the river goes way up. Also, left of the washout is distinctly different. The huge tree that was lying there is a goner. The shelf in front of those willows is smoothed out a bit up top--but the dropoff is still there.
T$ as I'm calling him on this blog went down today but I didn't hear back. So I'm guessing he didn't get anything. You know, T-money.
Welcome to the post dbldip and SteelieDan! We all know who double-dip is. You always see him on the river helping some old b@stard known as RiverRat! But SteelieDan--who are you? Do you happen to live in West Virginia?
I intend to get down to the river this week. Hope I have a good report to share!
