Soon...very soon

The water on NOAA is hanging steady today in the mid 8s. With the wind, the flushing of the Maumee has slowed today. Actually the water rose a little this afternoon. I'm guessing that left of the shoot is barely reachable. I didn't try. I heard reports that guys were trying to fish at the lower lot of Ft. Meigs but could not get their casts out into the river. Nothing like fishing from a parking lot!

Thanks for all the chatter from my earlier post. To answer a few questions...yes this is a secret society...at least it's fun to say so! Really it's not though. We're just guys who love to fish. In high school, we were the Buttonwood Crew (guess the secret's out now!) That's because we would have huge camping and fishing weekend parties down there--back in the day when it was still private and not a park. There was some old dude that drove around in a golf cart drinking Old Grandad all day. Memories. So, Scott, yes we may know each other. Most of us graduated from Perrysburg in 1990. Several of us went to O.U.

Yeah, the point to this blog was originally to keep in touch with our fishing crew during the season. Plus, the only place to go for information is Gary's, and he turned into a tool. I mean, he's ok. His shop is great. But his information is not reliable. He'll tell you anything (especially on his update page) to make a buck. Hopefully people are finding my blog to gain some insight into the river before heading in from out of town. But fact are facts. No one wants their fishing secrets out...specifically where we fish. I mean, how many times have we been asked by an out-of-towner, "Where is the best spot to fish today?" Tons of times. And the answer is always the same..."DUDE! They are slaying 'em at Orleans just left of the drain!!" Local guys are different. If this blogs attracts Perrysburgers, then COOL. And those from Perrysburg already know the hot spots anyway. All hot spots except OURS that is! So, look at our language, study the river, and buy us brews at Fat Jacks!

Here's a shout out to Fat Jacks! That's a local bar and the place to go in Perrysburg after fishing. It's locally owned, and they have Tankards for a great price. Their fish is decent on Fridays--not walleye--but decent. It's located in downtown Perrysburg. If you see the library you're close...head toward the river and Commodore Perry Monument and it's on your left. Tell out of towners to head there. Dr. Walleye will toast the walleye spirit with anyone!

I'll have specifics about depth and fishability on Monday for you.
