The river was at 4.6 this morning and rose to over 5 ft tonight while we were down there. I got 3 home tonight with my first female of the year...27" x 7 lb 13 oz. Closer took a nice jack home. We both had to throw a few back tonight. Lots of carp too. Fisherboy got 1 but it was a beer, not a walleye...
Mother River took a sharp turn upward today that was not predicted. Saturday's forecast of 6 ft by afternoon has changed. Good luck crossing to where you usually can. But the river is starting to level off and won't go higher by Saturday evening.
I only saw one other walleye all night but I did hear of some good reports off Bluegrass from guys in boats. Wader dudes won't get there this weekend, especially since 6 ft from NOAA will get here sooner than thought.
I got a dead fish head on the end of my hook tonight and it was square in the mouth. Dr. Walleye always gets 'em legal.
DNR action has been light. They are too wimpy to get wet in the rain, you know. Especially when they hang out in hotels with indoor pools. Gotta love those government dollars at work. Here in a few weeks they'll head south like the turkeys.
Wish I could post a pic of my hog but camera is not home...

Yes it was in the mouth. Nothing left except the mouth. & It certainly was dead. But he still had to fight a teriffric battle to land it.
Caught a few suckers in the morning. Jim was again at his best. 9 Suckers. Only 1 WE caught before I got there (BW - Doc's Hole)). None when I was there. The Beach was good I guess.
Going to Ft Meiggs in evening but car parked in driveway so I said the hell with the hill & the walk. More than likely hot back there.
Tried the same spot (BW) again. Few Suckers & 1 WE. Saw only 1 other WE caught in the area plus a snaged one which of course was released
Fisherboy,Birdman and I tried to fish Ft Meigs about 10 AM ,did not have reservations so could not get a space to fish,,we never saw it that crowded before, shoulder up and down the river ,the same on the Maumee side,,saw one fish at Ft Meigs,Walked the Maumee side at Ford street,I did see a few fish caught there around 1Pm but it was also shoulder to shoulder a lot of tangled lines
The fishing pressure sounded really heavy on Saturday. Glad I stayed away. Sunday night's crowd will thin out and that's a good time to get down there. I gotta think that my favorite hole is on fire and will continue into this week...
you will probably have company that is kinda our plan,,the Asians took over the sewer,They heard I would be there,21 of them ,no room for the old guys that fished it for years,,sad..looks like the river peaked and started down..
Gotta agree with you graybeard - the A's sure did, we fished tbe sewer. Wwe're not used to fishing shoulder to shoulder. Overkill and I got skunked. Threw alot of tackle out to the rock fish! Come to lake minnitaki and we'll show you some Wonderwalleye! Off to pay the bills now-see ya.
Glad to hear you still have that magnetic draw there Graybeard. Are you and the Birdman goin in the am? I may if I hear some good reports tonight. Doc W. give me a call at work with a report if you go this evening in your favorite hole. Fisherboy did you have Doc hand you his pole for that dead fish head?
Tried the same fxxx hole this morning. Did not start until 11:20. Stayed until 1:00. Long enought for me to get sick of it. Not crowed which surprised me. Saw 1 WE snaged which looked good to me but I do have bad eyesight. Heard there were 5 WE caught earlier. 1 of the lead throwers was depressed enough to go home for a while. No fish in 2 days which is unheard of for him.
Saw quite a few fish at the SP. Need a volunteer to hold my hand for me to make the 30 yard treek out.
May try FT Meigs in the morning if i have any energy.
just close down the blogsite....you guys BLOW!!!
