Fish Mounting Advice

I've heard of several large, unspawned females coming out of the river. The trick is finding a spot to get to them. With the river at 9.5 Wednesday evening, we've dodged a few of the bullets with local rain but still have experienced heavy downpours. The river has not risen much and even NOAA backed off their predictions. As it sits you gotta spend some time at the river and get to know it at this level. There are spots out there. But the river is expected to go up by at least a foot by Friday.

If anyone decides to keep a walleye to mount, dampen an old beach towel and wrap it up. Take care to fold down all fins. Lay flat in your freezer if possible. You can take it out many months later, and it will be fine.

Interesting time tonight. Took dog to river for my nightly run. Saw a few fish caught at SP. Had to try it. Landed 1 legal WE & released it. Had 2nd one on that I'm sure was legal & was looking for this lady to hand the pole to. While looking the fish came off. Moved from between the 2 trees where I left a jig hanging. Fished next to an oriental who help me get a lure loose & who also had no fish. Got 3rd one on & was trying to get the guy to take the pole. He misunderstood & was runing to get a net . After screaming at him & motioning for him to take the pole he finally did & landed a nice male. I actually knealed in the mud to grab the fish to give to him. Apparently his English needs to be sharpen because I had a hard time with him taking the fish.
Not too bad for less than 30 minutes.

Wed. was not a good day for me down at the river, while standing by Birdman had a raccoon fall maybe 60 feet out of a tree and almost land on our heads, he rolled in the river at my feet and soon drowned. Later had the tornado warning siren go off and only finished with 1 legal fish. Graybeard must have put his hex on me. Everyone else got there fish. Looking forward to the weekend and hopefully some lower water. Standing in trees sucks.

Never wanted the wind to blow so hard out of the west as I do for the next few days

Walleye1: from all of us at Dr. Walleye's, you are welcome sir. Finally a useful tool to help guys get out fishin.

Dang DBLDIP! Sounds like a close call. Kinda funny if you ask me. I'm surprised Birdman didn't go in after that raccoon's sorry sinking self.

Yeah Corky. Me too. One thing we got working to our advantage is that Ohio sucks. There's no fish in that river dude!

Tear_Em_Up: I'll get back to you on the mount info. I'll make a future post about it so you don't have to come back to this post and dig it up.
