Fall Fishing
At the river last week before all the rain, 3 of us only got 10 cats. The drift was slow in the warm water. It makes me wonder if it's time to hit the ponds and quarries for largemouth bass. or hit the river with small jigs to find some elusive fall walleye. But it sounds like 12" perch is the norm in the western basin.

Took a quick trip to river last night and only got 3 cats. Biggest was about 5 lbs. River is fishable...water not too cold.
Bluegills are still hitting. Also a 17" bass & 10 decent crappies at another location. Lost 2 bass there that were quite a bit bigger. Truly believe 1 would have been a FO. Trouble with ultra-light & no net & 6 ft above the water.
Besides pond fishing I went & fished a spot downtown Thursday night. Managed 19 gills (14 keepers)& a nice 21" catfish. Just an inlet in the Marina District. Also tried once for WE & struck out. Still unloading ones from a year ago so it does not matter. It would only be an ego trip to catch some.
