Welcome to 2017 Walleye Action!

GREETINGS WALLEYE WARRIORS! The blog is updated and ready for 2017. Maybe you've heard of some early action on the Maumee already? It is true. DBLDIP, Graybeard and Fisherboy have been watching and patrolling some local spots. Yesterday, DBLDIP saw one guy with 2 walleye and another guy with 1. This morning, Monday, Graybeard saw 20 people fishing Jerome Rd with only suckers coming in. It would be a surprise to have walleye upriver that far in February, and some proof is there. Hey, it's still February, so the limit is 6 and there are no non-fishing hours in effect. Ole Doc W might get out there sometime this week to see about picking off some early season fish. * * * The river today is at 3.3 NOAA and falling...really low. So finding those rapids and low weight (3/8 and smaller) is key to success at this time. Temp is bouncing into the low 40s right now due to our warm weekend. Look for Schroeder Farms Campground to open up early this year, second week of March, and when I talk with Whacker-H I will post the exact opening night. Welcome back everyone!

A friend caught 3 yesterday, 2 in the morning (see Maumee Bait), 1 in the evening. Too tired to go down today to look. May try Wed for 1st fishing of any kind since early Dec. This assumes a BW friend takes me. A little unsteady to fish by myself.

Headed out in the morning. Haven't seen many posts about fish being caught late yesterday afternoon or today.

I gave it a shot this evening at the Drag strip and lost my share of jigs and weights. Need some hi water to purge the river out. No fish seen. Half dozen guys fishing rock bed across on blue grass.
