Welcome to 2019! Started in 2001, this blog provides information about the Maumee River Walleye Run. Instant updates @DrWalleye on Instagram. Check for regular water level updates taken through NOAA as well as my interpretations of them. The action is fast. The information is reliable. 2019 Question
Greetings to a new walleye season everyone! My question today is whether or not to keep this blog going. Blogging was a popular online communication tool for a long time, but now with Instagram and everything else, I am wondering if this blog is worth the effort. Let me know your thoughts please.
The river is free of ice and is fairly low right now, although ice remains on land in some areas. Buttonwood took a direct hit again this year and remains closed. According to the Wood County Park District, repairing Buttonwood again (think 2014) is not a priority. Whether or not Buttonwood opens for parking this walleye season remains in question. Your best alternative is Schroeder Farms.

Keep the blog going Doc!
I agree. Love seeing this in late winter. Makes me happy to know walleye season is quickly approaching. Fish on! Team ALL JACKED UP is ready!
Up to you Doc! I check here & Instagram
Please keep your blog. Live in Las Vegas, but grew up 2612 River Road, 1964 alum of MHS. Love seeing the Walleye videos of recent years! Jim Zeitler.
I really appreciate the feedback, gentlemen. Thanks. I started this blog to simply share stories, provide information, and rip on the DNR's antics. I've backed off the DNR lately but still throw in some curve balls each year about questionable tactics and busts. I hope I don't leave you wanting more--I just can't get as much time these days to write like I did in the early years. Life, you know? But then again, fishing is life too! Live4fishn, fisherguy and Gatlin are some of my long-time followers, and Jim, we welcome you too. I grew up in Perrysburg and still live in the area...been Combat Fishing for, well, over 30 years. Thanks again for taking time to respond. Let's see what else we collect. Turtlelips, AKA DBLDIP, will surely be around soon too, as will Graybeard. I am going to walk down later this week I hope to check the river at low level. I do that each year just to see what changed before the water swells again. Will let you know what I find. --Dr. Walleye
Turtlelips huh? OK Doc! I have been waiting for some live action also. Old Graybeard has been taking a lot of cool pics of the destruction caused by the ice jams earlier this year. River road in maumee between the cemetery and 475 is gone, Buttonwood looks like a glacier from, Antarctica and I got a notice from the city of Pburg that the canoe /kayak racks at Orleans were destroyed which I already knew from dragging my canoe out of the wreckage after the water receded. The river is a mess. It will be interesting to see if your favorite spots are still there, could be filled in or deeper than ever. The power of the ice and flow is amazing yet very destructive. I will send you some of Graybeards pics to post here for all to see.
I'm sorry I left out the most important issue for the 2019 season. It's time the "Belt" comes home to it's rightful owner me! The Birdman has had it way too long, Don't you agree Doc and Graybeard?
DBLDIP
You have to fish to get it back.not just talk about it.Maybe Eugene will help you out.Grumpy are you listing
It was nice of you to place a Wreath with your fish at Riverside Cemetery.since the ground was frozen and you could not be buried because of the frozen ground
