I love 6 packs!

The new pic was from earlier. Nice full May stringer. That's my first sixer in quite some time. The river was at just the right level for my favorite high water spot. Can't tell you where, Tear_em_up. Sorry. But at the bottom of my page I did post a pic of my mount for you. Corky came in solid today. I'm sure he'll post a few stories later. The carp and quills were in heavy force today. Made for a great day of fishing.

As a reminder to commenters on an earlier post, this blog is dedicated to keep people encouraged to fish, when the fishing is right. I'll let you know when the fish are moving around and we can get to them. As far as name calling about people, this is not the place for it. So if there is a Eugene out there who reads this (what's the chances) I don't condone the anonymous garble. Future posts like that will be deleted. If you want to gossip, get a girlfriend.

Now onto the real purpose for this site: the river is dropping all week at a steady, slow rate from it's current mark of 6.8. Guys will probably try getting to Bluegrass by tomorrow. Most will get wet trying. The lower lot will be filling up again. And the towpath will get remarkable in the next few days. I can't remember this many fish in the river in May in quite some time. Usually, we're working hard in low water/fast flow areas by now. This week will be KILLER GOOD.

What general area did you get them at. I went out and had a tough time. Caught white bass and carp but no walleye

Nice picture Doc. Would had looked like mine today except I was 5 fish short of yours.

Now that May 1 has passed, does anyone use Rapalas instead of floating jigs? How about stinger hooks?

There would not be too many using Rapalas. If I lost 1 I would be crying about the cost & I'm sure others would not be too happy losing one. Granted they do not go to the bottom but there's enough things to get them snaged on.

BTW not one of my better days. Zero at BW. Fish not in the biting mood. But 2 guys down a way (1 sitting on a bucket) managed to get 10. Not too sure where they were hooked. No one else in the area had more than 1. Like real estate-location, location, location.

Ok guys, this is only my second year fishing the walleye run. Last year I did ok, I at least put enough fish in the freezer to last me a couple months. This year However, I have caught nothing. I know the fishing has been tough, but this is getting kind of ridiculous. I've been out about a dozen times and have ce back empty handed each time. If you guys have any tips, I would love to hear them.

Hi Doc… this is my second year following your blog posts and I’ve really enjoyed them. I’m new to the mid-west and had never heard of a Walley until 3 ys ago – but I’m a diehard fisherman. I’ve been up to Maumee from Centerville(near Dayton) a total of 7 times. Last year – I didn’t catch any. At least this year I foul-hooked one at Blue-Grass and threw it back. It’s been tough – from frigid temperatures to high winds to high water levels, we’ve been challenged but I’m still after them and enjoying every minute of it!! I’ll be driving up tomorrow for what looks to be my last attempt at river-run spawning Walley this yr. I have a 7ft spinning rig with 10lb Trilene XT with 6 to 8lb Trilene leaders running about 30 to 36 inches tipped with white, pink, chartreuse fl jig heads behind a 5/8 to ¼ oz egg sinker. I may even try a few rooster tails tomorrow – water looks to be a bit tough tomorrow – however, we’ll see if I can get my first score! Thanks for your Blog Doc!!

Managed to get 1 WE today but it was not easy. Also had a snaged WE released. Water still high & getting a little higher this evening. God I know I wanted higher water but this is ridious.

Went down to the SP around dark tonight. Saw 7 fishermen leaving the water. Only 2 of the 7 had a single WE. Not a good average. But kind of normal lately.

& a tip of the hat to Birdman for the info he gave me. Could have used that 3 years ago.
