PHS WINS!

Perrysburg High School beat Maumee High School in the First Annual tournament between the rival schools and communities. No walleye were measured, so white bass took the stage. The biggest fish of the day was a Perryburg guy who got a 31" x 16 1/2 lb buffalo carp. Could it have possibly been DBLDIP? I was on the river on Friday and Saturday. We caught plenty to white bass, a catfish, several carp, and a load of big buffalos. Fun fishing with a medium light rod and 8 lb line. Floaters were my best tactic. Lots of moss out there to tangle spinners. While walleye season has come to a close, I want to thank everyone for joining me here at my site. Over the summer I will only post things periodically, but if you have met someone here and want to keep commenting, I encourage you to do so. My blog will be back next year. Thanks again for sharing the fun of walleye season with me. Dr. Walleye

Sorry not me, had to work this weekend. Sounds like something someone like Graybeard or the Birdman would do to sabotage Perrysburg chance of winning. They are both down right underhanded when it comes to contests. haha

Man beaten on fishing trip

FREMONT - A Marion man fishing the Sandusky River this weekend was severely beaten after a dispute over a parking spot, according to police.

Fremont police were notified of the incident Sunday, though the assault itself is alleged to have taken place at about 10:30 a.m. Friday on the riverbank, near downtown.

A 53-year-old Marion man was on a fishing trip with an in-law when, according to police reports, he got into an argument with a stranger. Police were told the Marion man asked the stranger to straighten out his truck to make more room in a parking area off Elliot Street, on the east side of the river.

After the exchange, the stranger followed the man to the top of Fremont's flood wall and began beating him, according to the in-law.

The injured fisherman was taken by his companion to Marion General Hospital and was later transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, according to police.

Family members said he is still in the hospital's trauma unit with severe facial injuries, though hospital staff reported Monday they had no record of the man as a patient.

According to the wife of the alleged victim, not named to protect the victim's identity, her husband suffered a concussion and doesn't clearly remember what happened during the assault. He has multiple facial fractures, a broken nose and his jaws have been wired shut, she said.

The wife said this was the first time in years that her husband took a trip to fish along the Sandusky River. He has not been able to go recently, she said, because of three back surgeries and occipital neuralgia, which causes chronic pain.

The suspect was described as a white man, at least six feet tall, a large build, gray hair, a dark mustache and 40 or older. Witnesses report the suspect was wearing a red cap, white shirt, dark shorts, tennis shoes and had a tattoo on his arm. Police believe he was driving a white pickup.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Fremont Police Department's detective bureau at 419-332-6464.
