HOGS ARRIVED!
The river is pushed out to 3.3 due to this west wind. But the river should rebound a little when the wind dies off. The recent upward push of water brought in some new fish, RTSJ. You will see a new pic at the to of my blog: 2 HOGS. One was 8 lb 10 oz, 27 1/2" and the other an 8 lb 2 oz, 27". Both just shy of Fish Ohio. I got my limit yesterday again and threw back several foul hookers. The Closer was in to the fish as well. Look for a lot of action today fellas. Lone Star Jeremy: welcome to NW Ohio and the midwest brother! Bring us some of that huge largemouth bass mojo with you to the Maumee River. I caught a largemouth on Good Friday in the river last year--a strange occurence since we mostly run smallies and white bass. Is it true what they say about Texas bass fishing being so spectacular? Anyway, Orleans on the good side and Bluegrass Island on the Maumee side are your places to try right now. You can find places that aren't too busy too (I suggest avoiding the rock bar on Bluegrass and hit the upriver tip OR hit the towpath toward the bridge for open space on the Maumee side, which you get to from the main land and not going across to Bluegrass. You would probably fish a carolina rig well with 1/2 or 3/8 oz this weekend.

Does maumee tackle clean your fish for free or how much does it cost?
It's not free ,it's like $6 bucks for a limit.
Was told its 2 bucks a fish or 6 for a limit. Thanks Doc for the report. Not crazy about the lower water but will give her hell on Fri sat and sun.
Roy
Hey Doc. Got an opening in the boat this weekend if our interested. Let me know.
Roy
Roy,
How difficult is it navigating a boat on the river? I've always only waded, but I've got a 18 ft tracker with a 40 HP tiller, and was thinking of trying from the boat at some point. I saw quite a few boats hitting rocks at the bottom of BG. Any tips?
Kory my boat is a 17' Alumacraft with a 40hp tiller. Its tricky to navigate. That's why I prefer the water at 582 and higher. Its gonna be a pain this weekend but I installed a cmc power tilt unit so I can position the motor up high to put around. But when I shoot the heavy rapids below Shroaders I run at full bore up on plane to keep the prop just below surface. Nocknon wood I've not hit yet. If u want call or text me at 724-366-6450.

roy doc is a coward and wont reveal his identity but if you ask around you can find out who he is. Ask the DNR about him. There is a reason he dislikes the DNR so much. He has been caught snagging and fined many times. He is the typical person that hates authority because they are breaking the rules and get caught. I am guessing at least one of those 2 females he caught was snagged.
Interesting comment there "Real Doc Walleye" obviously you know everything, or at least think so. I've know Doc W for many years and he has never had a ticket for snagging or fined. And are you saying all those females on Gary's website are snagged also? Wow then you better get out there and help catch all those poachers. I'm so glad we have guys like you around to keep us all entertained with your character profiling, maybe you could get a job on criminal minds.
When i joined this blog there were 12 members and every year you can count on idiot remarks. Its a good thing i dont have pictures of all the deer, turkeys, and fish i have got or someone would assume they are taken illegally.....on a positive note i fished 4 hours yesterday at bw and took 3 home snagged 1.
hey doc i got alot of help from Roy Schmidt and i thank him for that but since your out there alot is it worth the 3 hr drive this weekend?
will all 7 of us catch our limit?
Shane, thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate levelheadedness and longtime members of my site. Devin, this weekend will definitely produce fish. Due to low water levels the river will be packed since there is less bank and water to choose from. The fishermen will be condensed a lot, but fish will be biting. For this weekend I recommmend arriving on the riverbank 1/2 hour before start time just to get a spot you like. Boats will crush the underwater rockbars this weekend. People will lose motors.
Roy, thanks for your number. Once we get some rain, I'll probably bring the boat up, I'll get a hold of you when I do for some advice. Thanks again
