Saturday and sun is shining

NOAA has us at 4.6 this morning. If you are not on the river yet, you'll have a tough time finding a spot. Fishing pressure is heavy.

I got my limit of tasty jacks, so I popped my limit cherry! DBLDIP took 2 home and a surprise...a +20 lb buffalo carp. It was huge. Birdman took one fish home and T$ got one too. There were quite a few fish coming in, with some throw backs.

Wecome new followers to my blog. Glad to have you here. I've had almost 1000 hits in one week.

Hit the river for a while this am. Level has dropped 6 inches from last evening. Quite a few fish being caught. Lots of guys there so good luck finding a spot. Colors don't seem to matter though last night orange seemed hot. Buttonwood packed with guys also didn't see any fish there during drive by. No sign of Fisherboy, hope he didn't fall in and float to lake.

THESE DAYS FOUL HOOKING FISH IS BECOMING A THING OF THE PAST. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE STILL A FEW IDIOTS OUT THERE WHO STEAL YOUR FISH FROM THE RIVER AND THEN BRAG ABOUT HOW GOOD OF FISHERMEN THEY ARE. I'VE HAD A COSTUMER RECENTLY I WAS TALKING TO ABOUT RODS AND HOW A BETTER ROD WAS GOING TO ALLOW HIM TO FILL HIS BITES BETTER. AND THEN HE TOLD ME THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE ALL YOUR DOING IS LINING THIM IN THE MOUTH AND STINGING THEM IN THE CORNER OF THE MOUTH. THATS THE BIGGEST PEACE OF BULL I'VE EVER HEARD AND WAS SAD FOR LACK OF FISHING SKILLS. SOORY, I JUST HAD TO WRITE ABOUT THIS. I'M APPALLED BY THE POACHING OF ANY WILDLIFE ONE OTHER THING I NEED TO TALK ABOUT ON A DIFFERENT SUBJECT IS GETTING YOUR LICENCE

I usually don't respond to anonymous posts, but today I will. I understand your opinion of snagging. But to whoever weighed in today, I wish to know your opinion of the DNR. What do you hear people say about them?

The anonymous comment above was a copy'paste from maumee Tackles website this morning. FYI it was not me that posted the above comment

Well lets see dumbass, you can either have the DNR at the river or you can kiss the walleye populations goodbye. Dont be ignorant and complain about the dnr. People would be poaching like crazy if they were not there.

For all of the people who believe the fish are actually striking floaters and feeding. Find me one with some fresh minnows or shad in the stomach and I'll give you a hundred dollars. I have checked my fish that were "legally" caught over the years and NEVER has there been anything in their stomach until after the run when the jacks actually start to actively feed. Walleyes do not make nests nor defend a redd like a trout or steelhead they are scatter spawners. Throw enough lines with enough fish and with practice you can learn to feel the fish. I am sure some people will disagree with this but look at the facts. As far as the DNR , yes they are there to do a job but the only time you see them is to make a bust. Why not get out there and be seen and talk to fisherman about their concerns, is there only priority handing out tickets? They are very unapproachable in my opinion.

If you want to give your opinion to the DNR you can call them. If your not doing anything illegal then you shouldnt worry about the DNR. Like i said before there would be hardly any walleye in the maumee if the dnr wasnt there

Everyone has their own opinion, some are be based on how one makes their living and who signs their paychecks. It doesn't affect me one way or another.
