The river is down to the 3.3 ft range...terribly low. We need a huge storm to create another push of fish. Guys had a tough time getting their fish on Saturday, and today will be equally tough.
Low water spots are picking up, especially by Buttonwood and Jerome Rd. Down by the tow path, Orleans and the fort, guys are wading out way, way too far. How frustrating. It's not always about, "Hey, look at my big balls. I can wade to the other side!" Fools. You gotta learn to roll with the fish and move spots when the river calls for it. I'm not giving up my favorite spot, but I'll be on the move today when I get out there.
Eyes and Ears Open: welcome to Doctor Walleye's page. Great comments. 1/2 oz jigs are still working. Walleye pick them up just as quick as a floater if you fish them slow.
Welcome Rob57 and Davis! Thanks for signing up and following.
Time for some sad, sad news. Doc Wubbyas's favorite watering hole closed this winter. Fat Jacks went out of business. Man, they had a beer called a Tankard that was the biggest most delicious Labatt you can think of. Dales is still going strong and serves a cold brew at a decent price.
Almost 2000 hits in 2 weeks guys! Thanks for visiting. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom and look at DBLDIP's huge buffalo carp that he got last week.

me and my friend are havin trouble catchin them walleye we need help this is our first year ever doing this and we are clueless about where to fish what to use and if we could cross blue grass and when is the best time to come for the walleye run because we are here right now and we have no luck PLEASE HELP US!!!
Fishermen: hang in there. Yes, you can cross to bluegrass this weekend. Try about midway at the island or slightly upriver. Or try at the rapids upriver from bluegrass, but be careful because it's all slate up there and very slippery. I recommend 1/2 oz leadheads with a slow retrieve. That works way better than floaters since you get 3 times the casts per hour. Be sure you are using monofilament line, namely Trilene XT 8 lb depending on your reel size. Let me know how you do today!
One of my friends fel in the water and all the water got in his waders so we had to leave but we are coming back next week so keep us updated thanks
Fishermen, be sure to wear a wading belt , it makes a huge difference if this happens to you. Cold day for that, the fishing should improve with warmer temps and a litte more water.
thank you guys so much you guys are a great help i will be telling my other friends about this blog thanks again
Back to 1 a day. Need a sanity check to find out why I go out in this cold for a fish. 3 other fish caught at my location at BW. Sorry to hear about fishermen friend getting wet but I fell a few days ago. Lucky for me I was in a foot of water & fell on my knees. No water got in my boots.
Tried it on Saturday afternoon/evening at Bluegrass. It's obviously all about location, location, location. 30' to one side of me guys were hammering them in a 30' stretch of river for about one hour, then everything shut off. I had one one for about 3-4 head shakes, then lost it. Was a little cool (to say the least). I haven't fished upriver any farther than Bluegrass, but I guess I need to spend some time learning the upriver spots so that I may have better luck during low water. Thanks again to all for the advice, and I'll continue to keep my eyes and ears open.
