Let It SNOW!
Warriors: We are no longer battling the snow. We are part of it. Mother Nature reared up again for another blessing of atmospheric water vapor frozen into ice crystals and falling in light white flakes. The river has taken nicely to it all. Again frozen after some slight ice push and threats to Grand Rapids, the Maumee River is now serene, intuitive, and beautiful. * * * In fishing news, I'll weigh in on the 2003 hatch and how large those fish will be this year. Last year, many of us caught several nicely sized jacks ranging 23-27". This year, that Class is even larger, and a nice famale mount could again be a goal. I would like to investigate more about a walleye's life cycle. If I can get to that, I'll write about it and cite the research. However, last year we also saw a higher percentage of fingerling walleye (as some of us call them) ranging from 12-14". It would appear through these lenses that the walleye population will continue to be healthy and strong.

Hey doc hows the lake lookin? Is the ice melting at all... Any predicted delay due to frozen water??
Some guys I work went out on lake yesterday and had 18 inches of ice. They only got 1 walleye but most of the walleye fishin has been east. Ic e is in great shape for the weekend.

Yes try to get out on the ice, we haven't had any good ice like this in years. Ol fisherboy has been killing the gills on the ice.

Or else atleast tell me where i can go for ice fishing near by Perrysburg. Is it allowed on Maumee River ? or any lake ?
Hemant it is not safe to be on the Maumee river anywhere there is current. The ice would not be safe. Your best bet would be on a pond or lake like Maumee bay state Park.
It's great to see some action around the site. Thanks DBLDIP for posting about the lake ice and updates. I managed to get out yesterday and got 40 fish at my secret Perrysburg ice hole. Bluegills were crushing wax worms. Crappie nailed the minnows. There was at least 12" of ice.

For practice session i been to Side Cut park Maumee and tried on Maumee River (side cut), there was 12" layer and i did the hole using Clinch, But NO Fish. It was awesome experience.
As I am new to USA and will be here for next 6/12 months for project assignment then I will return to my place. And In future i will not get such wonderful opportunity to do ICE Fishing. Hemant nehete if u are new to this place and like fishing u have to go walleye fishing on the river in april great expirience and great eating fish
Also, welcome to the area, Hemant! Glad you found us. Fire away on any questions that you have. The Findlay Reservoirs are a popular place to ice fish. In Perrysburg, you can try Three Meadows pond, but be careful since the ice is best along the edge nearest I-75. As Devin said, walleye fishing on the river is a fantastic experience! Usually we start fishing by early March, but we could be a bit delayed this year due to weather. We shall see! There's an old saying around here..."We don't decide when to fish the river. She tells us!"

•Fish 24-hour - $10 (good for residents and non-residents for all species)
•Fish 72-hour - $30 (good for residents and non-residents for all species)
•Fish all-species nonresident annual - $76
•Fish all-species resident annual - $26
•Fish all-species senior annual - $11 (good for residents only)
•Hunt/fish combo nonresident - $266
•Hunt/fish combo resident - $76
Why is the cost of the non-resident fishing license increasing so much?
Previously the cost of a non-resident fishing license in Michigan was $42. This was lower than every other Great Lakes state, except for Ohio. An increase in the cost of the non-resident fishing license would reflect the popularity and value of Michigan's fisheries and allow the DNR to create additional world-class opportunities.

Very interesting article, Graybeard. It looks like my out of state fishing expenses just went up. But it's sort of like beer prices at concerts. When I walk up and pay $11 for a big ole brew, I always smile and chuckle thinking, "I would have paid $13..."
