End of February Update

After a few walleye were caught last weekend, everything chilled out. I did not make it down...waiting for the river to rise. I am getting my wish. We had a push of rain that travelled up the river Friday night. NOAA's prediction is on the rise to 4.3 (up about 1'3") with the crest occurring on Sunday afternoon. Everyone knows to wait for the river to crest and then jump back in. But I bet a few people try fishing today in the snow. We have more rain in the forecast for Tuesday/Wednesday. I would like to see a nice washout (7'+) sometime in the near future. With warmer water temps...today at about 49 degrees...that would be a big help.

We fished on Friday on Blue grass across from Buttonwood. Only saw 2 walleye caught in 5 hours. We are from Fort Wayne and will be back. Thanks for the blog and updates Doc. I knew it was still early but the warm weather had me itching to get over there and the wife had the day off so we gave it a shot. Hope to see you all down there soon.......Paul

Thanks Paul! I appreciate your update. I went down to Maple St. at 2:00 yesterday and there were no boat trailers. But I saw about 10 trucks with boats driving around town yesterday. The river did not rise to the level predicted. It flat-lined today and is still considerably low @ 3.1.
