Toast to Traylor

Timmy dude. The Maumee River is your friend. She will talk to you. Listen. Get in tune with yourself on the river, brother. When I'm fishing, I'm thinking about catching fish. That's the way, man. Fish for life. For that brief period in time when we get to the river, that's OUR TIME to get our fish on. Simple. Yet, so easy to forget. Been there man. And all you other dudes out there who know what I mean. Let's give Timmy Traylor some props on keeping your head up, brother, and getting back to the river. It's what we do. Dude.

I appreciate the encouragement! I'm not giving up, this is my 4th year and I've got my limits before. And about the snag post, I really like to use the trolling sinkers. Seems like I had less snags when I switched from egg sinkers. Also when you find a snag try to adjust your drift to go over it or under it. Also sometimes your hook can play a factor. Some brands bend easier than others allowing you to bend the hook out of a snag. Kind of a double edge sword because a week hook will make you loose more fish. Just my opinion. Good luck today all, happy Easter, ill be out next weekend.

I'm with you doc, when I'm out there, it's me time, time to unwind, time to just fish.

“And so I learned what solitude really was. It was raw material - awesome, malleable, older than men or worlds or water. And it was merciless - for it let a man become precisely what he alone made of himself.”
― David James Duncan, The River Why

as for fishing yesterday...

My brother and I both managed our limit by 2:00-2:30 yesterday. Another buddy had his shortly before that. Saw a few being caught here and there, but nothing spectacular. The boats seemed to be doing well by the bottom tip of BG again.

Also saw a guy on BG take out a goose when he casted at it, not sure if it was intentional or not, but it took about 10 minutes (after barely making it across the river) until it could swim well and take off again. I've seen geese take a round or two of 3 1/2 BB and barely flinch, and a trolling sinker and a floater completely folded this bird down. Maybe next waterfowl season I'll start casting at them instead....
I'd like to know if the wardens saw it happen, or if they were too busy trying to worry about foul hookers.

Taking today off to spend time with family and eat until I can't move anymore. Happy Easter everyone, good luck out there.

Hey Eugene, I saw that you got two walleye last week in a picture at Garys store. Keep up the good work. How does that walking stick do to help navigate the river bottom? I may look into getting one of my own.

The Mighty Maumee beat me again. It destroyed me. Killed my ego. What really made me want to cry was stepping on my stringer & losing the only fish I had.

On the upside my early season fishing buddy (that has to work)came down to fish with me. Of course that was when I was getting ready to leave so that added a hour & a half to my time.

Good Easter for me, walleye in the basket! Buddy called wanted to go and had no choice but to join, ended up taking my limit of sweet sweet jacks. About 5 throwbacks. I always use the true Carolina with egg sinker(1/2 oz today) and bead, I like that connection directly to my hook and sometimes too much weight can produce a lot of snags. Just thought i'd throw my two cents. And only you can prevent river litter, this includes cigarette butts
