The river by Thursday will go on the rise, especially mid-day. Right now at 9:00 pm on Wednesday night we are at 3.5 on NOAA. By Thursday at 2:00 pm we're looking for 4.4 and their measurements are by foot. 5.3 by Friday night at crest. That's a good swell but not as big as predicted early this week by NOAA. Indiana must have gotten the rain because by the river locally the rain has been long-lasting but light and sporadic overall. The recent wind out of the east will back up things. We have lows of 20 degrees through Friday night. I love fishing in the extreme because people tend to wimp out. There's only one way to catch walleye. FISH!
Here at Doc Wubbyas the way that I have the site organized makes it very difficult to follow all the 'anonymous' postings. While valued, we can't always tell who is who. Repeat posters are great, and you can sort of tell who they are. But if you pick a login handle, then people will know. I am going to look into a better way to have people sign in. The easiest way for now is to click 'Name/URL' and then give yourself a name. Leave 'URL' blank.
Stacy, thanks for posting again. People won't be able to cross to Bluegrass this weekend. Orleans will get hot and busy. The Towpath on the Maumee side will pick up with people because that will be accessible...but there you have to park and walk (it's worth it). Buttonwood has been hot lately, and with the river swelling it's hard to say where people can fish, but they will be down there because Orleans and the lower Fort Meigs lot will get full quick. Crossing from the lower lot to the island upriver will get a lot of people wet thinking they will make it. They won't.
By the way if you park at the Fort Meigs lower lot right there by the bridge on the good side, you cannot walk on land upriver and get to a fishing spot. There is a TON of private property that is clearly marked with NO TRESPASSING signs once you get into the woods. The owners are prosecuting through a cooperative effort with the sheriff's department and township police. KEEP OUT! The only way to get to the island by the lower lot when you cannot cross by waders is to drive up to Schroeder Farms and then hoof it downriver.
I'm with medic 243. Thanks for commenting what you did. I agree. I started this blog about 3 years ago to share information about what really happens at the river, from a local perspective. I'm a big believer in the 1st Amendment, including Freedom of Speech. That's why all posts stay even though I can delete them. I'm going to stick with my position because I'm comfortable doing so. I also value other opinions that show up on this blog. At last we have a place to at least share our views, debate them, argue, and then reevaluate where we each stand. I am learning from the comments even though I laugh at several of them. They don't call me Doctor Walleye for nothing.
Spread the word about walleyerun.blogspot.com because it's a good site to send to those who fish the Maumee River. And only those who love a tasty walleye. Or a big-ass mount.

Thanks for the info about the private property. I always wondered why that area was blocked off like it was. I have heard stories about some crazy guy who lives there, it would sure be bad to get a ticket for trespassing just for fishing the river with as many other spots that are available down there.
Not too good for me today at BE (Doc's Hole). 1 legal, 4 toss backs counting 1 that was on a line which I drug in. Couple guys said I could keep but I doubt our game 'protectors' would concur. Oh well.
BTW hope someone leaves me know when it's dried enough to drive back to you know where.
To wet to drive there lane is blocked and a big puddle across it,,current is almost to slow to fish it,,have to cast a mile to get to the fish,,Birdman kicked my ass again he got one legal,,and released several,,I released 3 and lost 5 or 6,cold windy,,first day it was not crowded,,with ass holes,,it has been shoulder to shoulder,,a lot of out of towners
Glad 2 see you are using your new name there Graybeard.
do u think the fishing will be good next week with these cold temps coming
Who ever knows about fishing. 40 years of WE & I still am in the dark. Down at BW today 10:30 to 3:00.No toss backs (unless you count 1 that the netter fxxxd up-me). But 1 very nice 24" male, largest for me this year. Couple of guys asked if they could make it to the rock pile without any part of any rock showing. Of course being the nice guy I am I said sure. Glad they had brains to stop. (2 others said no so there was no chance of a downing.)
& thanks for the info graybeard. I may have to travel light to get down to see you & birdman.
it kinda sucked for us to day also, finally got 2 each,,a few guys were getting limits but loosing a lot of tackle you had to fish the snag area or you got nothing ,,,most that got fish moved up and down the river,,,not fun,not fishing today,,maybe
Thanks ,,Dbldip,, stil a chink magnet, had a couple words with one yesterday,,
Do you guys know if they are still taking fishing in the Maumee, or if the run is pretty much over?
The earliest of these had inverted script, which appeared upside down when hung on a rod.
