A Complete Wash Out

Stay home this weekend unless you're headed to Schroeders to camp, drink beer, and swap stories. The river is up to 9.3 NOAA and rising sharply. It went up 5 feet in the last 24 hours. No areas will be worth a long drive. Even us local guys will be hard pressed to find a place to stand. The flow has quadrupled in the last 24 hours too. Boating is particularly unsafe as well since (1) you'll never get an anchor set, and (2) if you do anchor and need to move due to a tree headed your way, there won't be time. The Mighty Maumee is showing us her stuff. I'll let you know when high water spots are opened.

My brother and I made it out on Tuesday and fished Tuesday and Wednesday. Suppose to fish till saturday but left this morning because of the "Wash Out" which is appropriately named. The first day we lost a pole, a fish on the stringer, and my brother who took a nice dip while wading over to Bluegrass. Even with all that, it was still a good day. Over the past 2 days we caught 5 females over 8lbs which one we had to let go because of being snagged. Guy next to us on Bluegrass caught a30- 40lb. sucker that was fun to watch. Lost a lot of fish. All -in- all though pretty good couple days. Going back up 16th-17th it will probably take that long for the river to get back into shape. Thanks Doc for the updates. Great site!

If measurements hold up, the river crested at 8:00 am on Saturday at 11.47 on NOAA at the Waterville Bridge. Maybe you had not heard that the Waterville Bridge is in the process of redesign.

Hi Eric just fished the Maumee for the first time myself this past week. I was fishing with a 7ft rod medium action, 10lb braided line, 5/8 - 3/4 inline sinker, 2-4 ft monoleader and floating jighead. Green twisters were hot for me but people were catching them on any twister. We fished far end of Bluegrass and walked straight off the path at Buttonwood and did great. Everyone was catching them from all access points. Seems like when the rivers hot it just produces. Just make sure to be ticking of the bottom and youll do fine. Thanks for the pictures Doc. Cant believe thats the same spot from last Wednesday. Was going to go out later this week but with the rain may go back next week. Good luck everyone trying to fish be safe!

Hoping to get out Wednesday or Thursday for some eyes. Anyone know if the water levels will be low enough for good fishing at Orleans or Ft Mgs.?? Web forecasting water levels only down to 586'. Got a drive so, wanted to make sure it's worth going or if I should just be patient for another week....?

there is no way you could walk out the the fort point by that time. In a boat yeah should be ok and orleans also should be ok

Expect more people to hit the river in the next few days

Thanks for the advise Kingslayer. Shout out to Dr. Walleye and members of this blog! Its great to see honest fishermen who are willing to help each other out. I'll be sure post a fishing report once I get out there if needed. Good luck to all!!

Waiting to see how much the river rises today. Will be doing driveby in a bit to get an idea.I would expect a 2 foot jump again but hopefully I'm wrong.

dbldip it isn't supposed to go up much more than where it was today. Crest tomorrow (Wednesday) and start heading back down overnight.

I got one walleye last night. High water spots should be more accessible on Thursday and all weekend.

Campers in boats were hammering them today! Sorta sad I turned down a seat this evening. He was back in an hour with a limit and threw 6 others back. I have yet to wet my line and its killing me.
